It’s the Minnesota in me

Call me crazy, but I consider Zach Parise to be a product of Minnesota.  Does UND have an excellent program?  Yes.  Do I think 2 years there discounts 4 years at Shattuck St. Mary?  Absolutely not.  Is he a Minnesotan boy?  Yes.  Would Parise have been a star at any other establishment like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Notre Dame?  Yes.  His accomplishments may have been different but I don’t consider his talent to be discounted or bolstered based on the college he attended for two years.

Should Wisconsin fans be mad when their Minnesotan born-players or Denver-born players go home?  Will Notre Dame fans be just as mad when Mario Lucia leaves Indiana and comes back to Minnesota?  (hypothetically)

It’s about being a hockey fan over anything else.  The same way that Hawks fans took on Carcillo or Penguins fans took on Asham…

But I guess he could be right… Parise should have just stuck around and played for North Dakota’s NHL team.
